As Chair of the Senate Water-Land Committee, I have scrutinized our protection of watersheds, reefs, endangered species and realized we must do a better job of managing these natural resources for current residents and future generations. We have secured funding to begin to turn around deteriorating resources. But there is much to be done and our public employees in many instances do not have the equipment and/or training. I am committed to help them do a better job at all levels -- from life rescue to protecting our endangered species including turtles and whales.
